The running community is remembering Elizabeth through the sport that brought her so much joy and connected her with others.
South Africa (16 September 2026) – The running community is coming together to remember Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo, with run clubs across Johannesburg dedicating their latest runs to one of their own.
Since news of Elizabeth’s passing was confirmed, runners and clubs have been sharing posters, videos and messages announcing that they will be putting in the kilometres in her honour.
Rather than letting her memory be defined only by the circumstances surrounding her death, the running community is choosing to remember Elizabeth through something that was such a big part of her life: running.
Elizabeth was a member of Team Vitality and regularly took part in Vitality events, including the Vitality Run Series. She had recently completed the Wanderers 21km before she was reported missing after going for a run in Kempton Park on 9 September.
Her story has since resonated deeply with runners around the country, with clubs using their own weekly runs to pay tribute.
Run Alex
Run Alex, a running club from the Alexandra community in Johannesburg, was among those to dedicate its run to Elizabeth.
F45 Training Fourways
Runners in Fourways have also joined the tribute, with F45 Training Fourways sharing posts dedicating their run to Elizabeth.
