Scientists have officially identified a sixth member of the Big Five. It’s the dad joke.

Eastern Cape, South Africa (22 June 2026) – Every dad seems to have one. A weapon, if you will. Small, lethal, and deployed without warning at the dinner table, in the car, in the queue at the shop and apparently…deep in the bush.

The term ‘dad joke’ likely stuck because dads, historically, are the ones most willing to embarrass themselves for a reaction. Which brings us to some people who understood the assignment completely.
