With enough support, Brenda’s Angels aim to bring even more safety, protection and preparedness to SA’s hard-working K9 units.

South Africa (02 June 2026) – W/O Gerber and K9 Fina are a dedicated Search and Rescue duo, always prepared to face the toughest conditions to bring answers and hope to families in times of crisis.

Recently, they took a quick break from their heavy duties to show off some brand-new gear, and it is the sweetest reminder of just how much support matters.

The hardworking pup was spotted rocking a stylish pair of protective booties, while handler W/O Gerber sported a brand-new pair of boots, generously donated through a partnership with Merrell.

“For most of us, a pair of boots is just another piece of gear. But for a Search & Rescue K9 team, the right equipment can mean greater safety, improved comfort during searches, and protection across challenging terrain.” shares Brenda’s Angels.

Seeing a service dog rock booties is very wholesome, but it’s also proof of the incredible things the team at Brenda’s Angels are able to achieve for SA’s search and rescue K9 units, who work tirelessly to serve the public.

Founded by sisters Lindy, Tammy, and Kirsty in honour of their late mother, the organisation steps in to fill the gaps for government-supported K9 teams, ensuring these four-legged heroes have the everyday essentials they need to save lives.

The generosity of ordinary South Africans allows them to keep supporting the teams who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Moments like Fina getting her booties are what the 50 for 50 campaign is about.

Launched to celebrate co-founder Tammy turning 50 on the 10th of June, the 50-day fundraising countdown has just over a week left before it wraps up. The goal is to raise R50,000 to keep these handlers and dogs safe, healthy, and ready to answer the call, and every single donation makes a big difference.

Whether you choose to give 50 cents, R5, R50, R500, or any amount divisible by 50, you are helping to provide the practical items that keep our K9 heroes protected – just like these booties.

With the final push of the campaign now in full swing, let’s help them smash their goal before the live broadcast on the 10th of June! You can get involved by making a donation divisible by 50 and following Brenda’s Angels on Facebook to follow their journey and see the final total.
