Siya Mfanta’s determination, fuelled by his love for running and his big heart for cart horses, has the people buzzing! Not only did he smash his Comrades’ goal, but the legend raised a FORTUNE for the welfare of hardworking mares and stallions.
Durban, South Africa (11 June 2025) – One of the most popular harness makers on our radar, Siya Mfanta, set out to Durban on a mission last week, and he accomplished it!
In seven hours, 28 minutes and 50 seconds, Siya successfully completed his first Comrades Marathon, and he has a shiny silver medal to show for it too!
“I’m so proud of myself, too. I planned to finish it in eight hours, but I finished in seven”, said an elated Siya sporting the biggest smile after the athletic achievement.
He received the warmest welcome from his loved ones upon his return, especially at the Cart Horse Protection Association (CHPA), the organisation he endured every gruelling kilometre for.
Siya’s two-fold triumph also saw him raise R92,550 on his GivenGain page as well as an additional R8,850 in donations, totalling a mind-blowing R101,400 for the working cart horses at the CHPA, talk about being committed to a cause!
Siya’s determination, fuelled by his love for running and empathy for the welfare of cart horses, has touched the hearts of all who have heard about and followed his journey.
Social media users, from South Africa to across the globe, have been flooding the CHPA timeline with words of love and support, admiring Siya’s athletic prowess and how it is rooted in a cause that supports hard-working equines.
