Donned in their sparkliest attires and armed with their spinning flags, batons, and winning spirit, the Durbanville Majorettes Club delivered a stunning showcase that wowed crowds, impressed judges, and earned them gold at a recent Western Cape Provincial Championship!
Kraaifontein, South Africa (11 June 2025) – The Durbanville Majorettes Club (DMC) is bursting with pride as they celebrate their remarkable triumph at the recent Federation of Dance, Drill, Cheerleading and Majorettes (FDDCMWC) Western Cape Provincial Championships!
The group, made up of talented majorettes from all different cultures, were crowned Provincial Champions, securing Gold in both the Large Drill and Small Drill categories, along with numerous first, second, and third-place wins across other divisions!
Founded in 2019 at Aristea Primary School in Kraaifontein, DMC set out to create inclusive opportunities for learners to participate in the beautiful sport of majorettes.
Today, the club proudly supports over 50 athletes, ranging from Grade R to tertiary students, and continues to grow from strength to strength.
The sport of majorettes fosters vital life skills such as teamwork, commitment, poise, time management, and determination, all of which were clearly on display as DMC delivered a stellar performance at the provincial level.
Led by a team of dedicated and passionate coaches, Nicky Metcalf, Wilmar Baker, Robyn Jooste, Cameron Africa, Angke de Villiers, and Hope van Tonder, the club’s success is a testament to their tireless work and the commitment of each athlete and supporter behind the scenes.
Now, DMC has its sights set on defending its National Champion title at the FDDCMSA National Championships in Hoërskool Wesvalia, North West Province. However, the journey to Nationals comes with substantial financial hurdles.
Due to ongoing economic constraints, the club is appealing to corporate sponsors and the community to help raise the necessary funds to attend the championship and represent the Western Cape with pride.

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings these athletes one step closer to achieving their dreams on the national stage.
