In green and gold get-up, equestrian Victoria Greyvensteyn made South Africa proud after she brought home the bronze at an international showjumping challenge!
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (01 November 2024) — South African equestrian Victoria Greyvensteyn from Benoni has brought home the bronze after a spectacular competition at the FEI Jumping World Challenge Final!
Held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Victoria was one of the youngest athletes to compete out of the twenty athletes selected from 12 nations across four continents.
The showjumping World Challenge was an important opportunity as one that offers equestrians —who are otherwise unable to participate in major competitions—the chance to compete against international competitors.
Adding an extra-challenge into the fold, every rider drew a horse which they’d then be paired with for the week. This meant that they had limited time to train with their paired horse (only 45 minutes flat work and 90 seconds to do a course of jumps) before the actual competition commenced.
In her green and gold get-up with horse Jodcasall A-Z.
“I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter more honest ride,” she shared of her pairing.
Victoria competed in two qualifying rounds where she clinched fifth and third place respectively. For her efforts with Jodcasall A-Z, she was deemed the 3rd highest qualified! And in the finals this past Saturday (26 October), she and her ride finished the final off with a beautiful bronze!
This has added to an exciting year for the equestrian who, earlier this year, won the SA Junior Outdoor Grand Prix Title on her mare, Sunny Park Classic Queen.
