Promising karting sensation, Travis Authers, has been burning rubber since he was a kid. Now, he’s presented with an opportunity to represent South Africa at the SWS Finals in Spain.
Johannesburg, South Africa (15 June 2025) – Motorsport enthusiast, Travis William Authers, has been racing since he could barely see over a go-kart wheel.
He’s won the final round of the first-ever Sodi World Series (SWS) held in South Africa in 2023, finished second in the national championship in 2024, and now he’s got the ultimate invitation: to represent South Africa at the SWS Finals in Spain!
This year’s season is already off to a strong start. Despite hitting a little financial speedbump that made him miss the first race this season, Travis has still managed to win three out of his last four races.
“To race on the global stage has always been my dream — a goal I’ve worked toward for most of my life,” Travis said.
“Representing South Africa at the SWS Finals would be more than a milestone; it would be the realisation of everything I’ve trained, sacrificed, and hoped for. It would mean the world to me.”
Travis and his brother were introduced to karting by their dad as kids – a shared passion that has significantly shaped their lives.
“After a break during high school, we returned to the track in 2021, and that spark turned into something bigger,” Travis reflected.
Now, as he prepares for the SWS Finals, Travis has been able to secure some funds to attend the championship but still needs a little help to get me over the finish line.
He’s launched a BackaBuddy campaign to raise funds for flights, accommodation, registration, and travel expenses.
“Every donation, no matter the size, brings me one step closer to the starting line on 2-5 July 2025.
“If you believe in passion, grit, and South African talent, please consider donating or sharing this campaign with your friends and family. Let’s fly the flag together.”
