A celebration was held at Profmed for South African Paralympian and Profmed member Louzanne Coetzee, and her guide, Claus Kempen, where she got to share her thanks for all the support from Profmed on her #Path2Paris 2024.

South Africa (28 November 2024) – Louzanne Coetzee and Claus Kempen visited the Profmed Team recently, to say thank you for all their support on her Path to Paris and for playing such a pivotal role in her earning her Bronze Medal at the 2024 Paralympics in the 1,500m T11 event.

In the middle of her training, Louzanne experienced a pain that she struggled to pinpoint. Being a Profmed medical aid member, she was hospitalised to find the source of the pain. But as Louzanne lay there, she wasn’t sure if she would get to the Paralympics, let alone come back a medalist. Thankfully, her medical team was able to find the problem and treat it, putting her back on track.

The Profmed team were left in awe of her inspiring story, her commitment to recovery and her determination to not only reach her goal, but run her personal best times in Paris!

The beautiful bronze medal was passed around the room, and many of the team proudly posed with it, as Louzanne shared, “This medal is not my medal; it’s your medal”.

The room was buzzing with celebratory feelings as everyone cheered for Louzanne and Claus. Louzanne ended her thanks by saying that the room’s energy was even better than her victory lap in the Stade France stadium in Paris.

We are so proud of everything Louzanne has achieved in the past four years, and we know she is getting ready for her next big challenge.

Louzanne’s Path to Paris is now over, but she is setting her next goal for Los Angelas 2028, all going well.
