Moved by an organisation working against limited resources to empower, support and keep Amaoti children in school, Mario Fesser will take on the 97km Ride Joburg to raise much-needed funds to keep their mission alive.
Amaoti, South Africa (27 August 2025) – In the community of Amaoti, a powerful movement is quietly making a difference.
Known as the Lungisani Indlela (LI) non-profit organisation, it provides essential support to vulnerable children and families. It is led by dedicated volunteers who run programmes that offer holistic care, addressing both the educational and psychosocial needs of the community.
Their vision is simple: to empower and transform lives, giving hope for the future.
It’s a vision that has resonated with Durban “Professional Social Cyclist”, Mario Fenner, who has been moved to support LI by pedalling for a purpose at the Ride Joburg on Sunday, 26 October 2025.
“This will be his second Ride Joburg and first one for us! He has decided to ride 97kms for LI to help us keep changing children’s lives in Amaoti,” LI shared.
In addition to raising awareness on the charity’s invaluable work in Amaoti and surrounds, Mario also hopes to raise R25,000 to buy much-needed uniforms for children on LI’s Learner Support Programme.
The programme focuses on school-going children, from ECDs through to secondary school.
“We offer academic assistance, psychosocial support, life skills and skills development (through partnerships), and we also assist with purchasing uniforms and stationery to ensure that children can attend school with dignity and confidence.
“Due to a lack of funds, we have only been able to purchase very limited school uniforms over the last few years.”
Mario, who has already raised R4,345 so far, hopes to change this so that children can start the next school year with dignity.
You can join Mario in activating generosity by donating a one-off amount or even a donation per km through his Sport for Lives campaign
“No amount is too small. We appreciate it all. For more information on Lungisani Indlela.”
