Gold Medals Sates Swimming Olympics Commonwealth games

South Africa’s youth swimming team are bringing home 59 medals; they had a fantastic time competing at the Region 5 Youth Games in Malawi.

 

Lilongwe, Malawi (08 December 2022) – The swimmers of Team South Africa have finished their events and are bringing home a total of 59 medals today! That is an outstanding achievement!

The Region 5 Youth Games which are taking place in Lilongwe, Malawi, are designed to highlight the youth of sports in Africa. These are the up-and-coming athletes who show incredible potential in their sporting codes. When seeing these young men and women, you are seeing the future representatives of sport on the global stage. These are the future Olympians of our nation!

The Region 5 Youth Games, gives them each the chance to compete against the very best of Africa. This valuable experience helps set them up for future sporting competitions.

Swimming South Africa was very proud to announce that the team had done exceptionally well. They shared that the overall medal count for the swimming teams was 59 medals!

  • 34 Gold Medals
  • 15 Silver Medals
  • 10 Bronze Medals
