Bhubesi Pride Foundation is a rugby charity that works in Africa to uplift communities, especially those who have special needs children. Take a look…
South African-born, UK-based founder Richard Bennett has created a programme that is changing lives in 9 African countries. Bhubesi Pride Foundation is a rugby coaching-based charity that uses the sport to help uplift communities.
The foundation recently went to Malawi as part of their tour and did the first ever special needs workshop. For the children within the community, it was the first time they got to take part in the workshops and many had so much fun.
The children that are not mobile, are carried by their mothers, either in their arms or on their backs. The mothers ran around and took part in the workshop just so their kids could be included. When they got tired, volunteers took over and ran with them, playing along with all the other children.
The moment was touching to watch. We got a little choked up seeing how happy being included in the day made these children.
“Working in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, our objectives are as follows:
-
UNITE communities through rugby, promoting the sport’s values and life skills
-
EMPOWER and up-skill local staff, nurturing community leaders, male and female, maximising sustainability
-
INSPIRE long-term developmental outcomes through tangible legacy projects, alongside international and in-country partners”
The team created a 30-minute documentary about their work which you can watch below. Grab a tissue because the work they are doing brought us to tears.
