The awesome riders of the Sisonke Surf Club from KwaZulu-Natal totally wiped out the competition and impressively secured first place at the 2025 Royal St Andrews Hotel SA Interclub Championships!

Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa (04 April 2025) – They had their sights set on gold and the Sisonke Surf Club (KZN) did just that when they became the proud winners of the 2025 Royal St Andrews Hotel SA Interclub Championships.

These awesome wave riders carved up Pollock Beach in Nelson Mandela Bay, against some of the country’s best, battling it out in a super cool tag team event.

According to Surfing South Africa, the tournament brought all the good vibes and contestable offshore conditions, and even though conditions slowed down a little during the low tide, there were still some great rides from the local surfers and those visiting from KZN and the Western Cape.

In the end, Sisonke proved they were the kings of the curl, leaving Skulls, Wave Point Surf, and Surf Emporium in their wake.

This competition was the first event in the Nelson Mandela Bay Surf Fest. It will be followed by the Sea Harvest Pipe Junior SAST event on April 2 – 4. The festival will conclude with the Nelson Mandela Bay Pro Junior on April 5 and 6, the surfing federation confirms.

“The National Club Surfing Championships was a great success,” said Surfing South Africa General Manager Reza De Nicker.

Club surfing is where all the magic begins and Surfing South Africa has a fresh focus on clubs and club surfing in South Africa. Surf clubs play a vital role in educating, nurturing, and instilling the correct values and ideologies for young and old surfers, thus being intrinsic to the sport’s growth.
