The Springboks proved unstoppable in Durban, with teamwork, resilience and a touch of magic from Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu leading them to victory over Argentina.
KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (28 September 2025) – South African rugby fans were treated to something truly special in Durban this weekend. The Springboks delivered a dazzling 67-30 victory over Argentina, moving to the top of the Castle Lager Rugby Championship standings with just one game to go.
And at the heart of it all was a young man who has already written his name into the history books: Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu. The flyhalf produced a performance for the ages, scoring a hat-trick of tries and racking up an incredible 37 points… the most ever scored by a Springbok in a Test match. His skill, composure and attacking flair left fans and pundits alike in awe.
Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus was quick to highlight both Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s brilliance and the importance of the team effort that gave him the platform to shine.
“Nobody can disagree that he was brilliant on the day,” Erasmus said. “He has grown a little bit against New Zealand, and a little bit against Australia away, and I think he only has 11 caps, or something like that, but I thought Damian de Allende helped him a lot and Damian Willemse played well and Manie came on played well and there were a lot of guys that played well, but no-one can disagree that Sacha was man of the match and did incredible things on the field.”
Erasmus emphasised that this was all part of a bigger vision for the Boks: building a squad where every combination works seamlessly. Injuries forced him to reshuffle the entire backline mid-match, yet the team continued to dominate, showing resilience and adaptability.
“It takes time to swap people in and out and have them play in sync – but we also know how quickly that can change so we won’t get carried away,” he added.
Captain Siya Kolisi also hailed Feinberg-Mngomezulu’s maturity and leadership on the field, while pointing to the collective spirit that drives the Boks forward.
“Sacha was amazing, not just in the way he scored tries but in the way he controlled the game,” Kolisi said. “The guys around him helped him make decisions but when we click as a team every single player in the team can show who they are.”
Kolisi went on to highlight the shared leadership within the squad.
“What stood out for me was that I saw so many guys come out of their shells today. We believe in shared leadership; there is not one leader, and when we made a mistake, it wasn’t just one voice changing something. We had more experienced guys listening to guys who don’t even have a double-figure number of caps and that’s what makes our team special.”
The Rugby Championship now heads into a thrilling finale, with the Springboks set to face Argentina at Twickenham. Kick-off is at 15h00 SA time, live and exclusively on SuperSport.
One thing is certain: the Springboks have reignited belief and reminded South Africa what is possible when teamwork, resilience and brilliance collide. Feinberg-Mngomezulu may have stolen the show, but this was a victory built on unity, courage and an unwavering belief in one another.
