As the only South African on the Top 24 map, it’s a prideful moment for South Africa in the sport that’s still fighting for competing opportunities, though it is far from the first time Jean-Marc and his wheels have made us proud!

Last year the pro-skater celebrated not one, but two Guinness World Record-smashing moments—most skateboard 360 frontside spins in 30 seconds (7)and most consecutive skateboard ollies (323). This, after a string of record breaks for Jean-Marc, including his 2018 history-making moment for the most skateboard nollie heelflips ever done in one minute.

The ‘Kid From Athlone’ shared his Kardo victory on social media, where South Africans everywhere will be rooting for his success in the next stage of the competition.

Meanwhile in other global sporting news that made happy headlines, South Africa’s relay running squads have secured two spots at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris! You can read all about it, here.
