South Africa has earned its first seven medals at the 2022 Region V Games in Lilongwe, Malawi thanks to the gymnastics and taekwondo teams.

 

Lilongwe, Malawi (05 December 2022) – 209 South African athletes are currently competing at the 2022 Region V Games and medals are already rolling in! The gymnastics squad have earned gold and silver medals so far!

The 2022 Region V Games run from the 2nd of December until the 12th of December 2022. A total of 3000 athletes from ten African countries are competing. South Africa is always a front-runner at this event and this was proven last year, even after the squad was pulled halfway through the games due to Covid-19.

The gymnastics events are currently underway and Team SA has scooped a few medals already. Both the Girl’s and Boy’s teams have earned Gold and there are a few individual medal winners as well.

Goisteone Khumalo, Vuyisile George, Nina le Hanie, Simonique Grobler, Alejandra Morales Martinez, Faith Reed, Kobamo Keameditse and Michael Masangane Junior are all medal winners today!
