Global (16 May 2024) — Teen surfer Louise Lepront has achieved what she calls her “biggest accomplishment”, and rightfully so! Louise rode the waves of hard work and dedication like a champion to and at the 2024 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, where she scooped a podium placement that has South African surfers beaming!
In El Salvador, the teen surfer (and 3x South African champion) went up against top junior surfing talents from around the world. While her expectations were initially set lower, she surprised herself and successfully navigated the waves for her division (u16 girls) all the way to the world champions’ table.
“I came into this event with my goals set to make the quarter finals. I managed to exceed my goal and get a 3rd place in the world,” Louise shares, remarking on her achievement at El Tunco Beach.
Louise blazed the bronze with the South African flag over her shoulders; proud to have represented South Africa in such epic fashion.
“I am super stoked to have represented my country and make them proud,” she added.
As for Team South Africa as a whole, the junior squad also gave the Surfing Championships their all and placed 10th, with Australia, Hawaii and France grabbing the top three spots.
Meanwhile, in other fantastic news for South Africa making a splash in international spaces, the ‘Sky is the Limit’ Madswimmer Team successfully cracked an icy record for the highest-altitude swim, achieved atop the Himalayas, dedicated to two fantastic causes.
