Every day, Sthembiso stood at the traffic lights wearing a suit and believing life could still get better.
Every morning, while cars rushed through a busy intersection, one man stood at the traffic lights wearing a neat suit and tie.
His name was Sthembiso Nkuna.
Now, you might think he was heading to an important office job.
But he wasn’t.
Sthembiso was actually looking for work.
After losing his job, he needed a way to support his wife and four children. So every day, he stood at the robots collecting bottles and helping clean rubbish from cars in exchange for small coins.
It was hard work.
But Sthembiso refused to give up.
And no matter what happened, he always wore his suit.
Because wearing that suit reminded him of something important: he still believed in himself.
One day, a woman named Lorrel Singh drove past the intersection and noticed him immediately.
She saw the man in the blazer standing tall beside the road and thought, “This is someone who has not given up.”
Instead of driving away, Lorrel decided to help.
Lorrel runs an initiative called Lovers of Humanity, where she encourages people to care for and support one another. She began helping Sthembiso search for work and cheered him on every step of the way.
Months passed.
Then finally, wonderful news arrived.
Sthembiso got a job at a restaurant!

At last, he had the opportunity he had been hoping and working for.
Sthembiso was overjoyed. He said he loved working with people and making customers feel welcome.
But even more important than the job was what it meant for his family.
His eldest son was studying Mechanical Engineering at university. His second child was in matric. His younger children still needed school supplies, food and support.
Everything Sthembiso did was for them.
Lorrel knew the family still needed help while Sthembiso settled into his new job, so she started raising support for transport, groceries and other essentials.
And once again, people stepped forward with kindness.
Because that is the beautiful thing about hope.
Sometimes it begins with one person simply noticing another human being.
And sometimes, all it takes to change a life is somebody saying, “I see you. Don’t give up.”
Sthembiso’s story reminds us that courage does not always roar loudly. Sometimes courage looks like showing up every day, standing tall in your suit and believing that tomorrow can still be better.
