In the small Northern Cape town of Carnarvon, three incredible images were captured showing how much rainfall they were receiving. The pictures are of breathtaking waterfalls!
As always, ReenvalSA is sharing some amazing pictures and videos of all the rainfall being experienced around the country. The decent amount of rain has peoples spirits lifted. A celebration of the country’s beauty is taking place and we just had to share the images with you.
Petro Grobbelaar took three photos on Sunday, the 20th of May which has since spread across the internet. They were taken on a farm in the Northern Cape.
The small town of Carnarvon is located in the Karoo, surrounded by the Karoo Koppies. This area was one typically used by the San-Bushmen hundreds of years ago, to perform rituals and initiations. The only evidence left of their presence is the thousands of rock engravings on the black boulders of the Karoo.
This area has been heavily affected by drought so the rains are a welcoming sight. Along with the rains, the area has also been earmarked as one of many in the Northern Cape to receive drought relief funding. According to Farmers Weekly, drought aid funds were unlocked following the announcement in March by Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) Minister Zweli Mkhize that the drought had officially been declared a national disaster.
