Wimbledon and the business end of the FIFA World Cup may be grabbing global headlines, but local fans have plenty of reasons to rally behind the green and gold over the next few days.

Global (10 July 2026) – With Wimbledon heading into its final weekend, sports fans are spoiled for choice over the next few days. But while the tennis world turns its attention to Centre Court, South Africans also have plenty of homegrown stars to cheer on across rugby and hockey. Whether you’re backing the green and gold in Pretoria or following the national hockey side in Durban, here’s what’s worth adding to your weekend watchlist.

South African Hockey Men Eye Series Victory

After opening the five-Test series with back-to-back victories over Malaysia, South Africa were denied a series-clinching win when the visitors fought back for a 2-2 draw in the third Test.

The match also saw the welcome return of Mustapha Cassiem after injury, adding even more firepower to the South African squad.

With the series now standing at two wins and one draw for South Africa, Friday night’s fourth Test presents another opportunity for the hosts to take control before the final encounter.

The fourth Test starts today at 19:00

Springbok Women Looking to Make it Two From Two

The Springbok Women return to Loftus Versfeld on Saturday for the second Test against the USA, hoping to build on last weekend’s 34-21 victory at Ellis Park.

Head coach Swys de Bruin has made just one change to the starting side, with Eloise Webb coming in at fullback after making an impact off the bench in Johannesburg. The minimal changes suggest confidence in a squad that produced an encouraging performance in the opening Test.

Kick-off is at 13:30.

Springboks Welcome Scotland to Pretoria

Rassie Erasmus has once again shuffled his pack, making 10 changes to the side that defeated England as the Springboks continue to build depth ahead of a busy international season.

The changes reflect Erasmus’ commitment to giving as many players as possible valuable Test experience while maintaining the standards expected of the world champions.

Scotland provides the next challenge, with Loftus Versfeld set to host another exciting Test as players continue to stake their claim for future selection.

Kick-off is at 17:40 on Saturday.
