Grade 7 Reddford House Northcliff learner Ziya Visser earns national selection for the South African U14 Indoor Netball Squad after standout IPT performances.
Johannesburg, South Africa (15 June 2026) – Ziya Visser, a learner from Reddford House Northcliff has taken a major step in her netball journey after being selected for the South African U14 Indoor Netball Squad following an impressive showing at the IPT tournament.
The selection marks a proud moment for the young wing attack, who now finds herself on the pathway towards potential international honours, including the SAINF World Cup in Australia in 2027.
For Ziya, the news was both emotional and unforgettable.
“I felt very excited, proud and grateful. It was such a special moment for me because it showed that all the hard work, training and dedication had paid off.”
Known for her quick thinking and creativity on court, Ziya mainly plays wing attack but is also comfortable stepping into goal attack when needed. For her, it’s the speed of the game that makes it special.
“I enjoy it because of the fast pace. I can be creative on court, defend and help control the game.”
One of her favourite parts of netball is creating scoring opportunities for her teammates, something she sees as central to her role.
While the selection is a huge milestone, the journey is far from over. Training and national boot camps are set to begin in August, with further assessments still to determine the final squad that will travel to Australia.
Ziya’s development over the past year has also been shaped by strong support structures around her. She has been training under Sicelo Gumede while continuing to work on her speed, fitness and overall game understanding.
