Some years we need plans and others, only perspective, but most times, all you really need is the right sentence at the right time.

South Africa (06 January 2026) – We’re easing into the year at Good Things Guy with open laptops, strong coffee and a quiet understanding that January doesn’t arrive the same way for everyone. For some, today feels like a clean slate. For others, it’s more of a deep breath before diving back in. Both are valid feelings.

Words have a way of meeting us where we are. A single line can steady your thoughts, shift your mood, or remind you of something you already knew but momentarily forgot. That’s why we keep coming back to quotes. Every week without fail, we send out our newsletter, and it opens with a quote. We always get an email or two, saying how much the quote fit that reader’s moment, how it became a motivator, an inspiration or a nod that they were on the right track.

Each year, we round up the words that inspired us and 2025 had some gems! We love sharing them in the hope that you will randomly jot them down in your diary or journal, saved as a surprise for a day in the future where inspiring words might be needed.

Instead of saving quotes for special moments, we like to let them live alongside everyday life. Scribbled into diaries, waiting patiently on a random date with no warning at all.

You might come across one on a day that’s going well and feel quietly grateful. Or you might find one on a day that’s doing the absolute worst, and suddenly things feel a little more manageable. Either way, that pause matters.

So as 2026 stretches out ahead of us, with its unknowns, its hope, and its inevitable plot twists, here are the quotes we’re carrying forward. Add them to your diary. Revisit them often. Let them do what good words have always done best.
