Chefs with Compassion have smashed their soup record once again thanks to volunteers, those in the culinary industry and everyone who lent their support and ingredients to the cause. Together, they whipped up 106,895 litres of soup, serving over 400,000 cups for the hungry!

South Africa (26 July 2024) — Chefs with Compassion have once again smashed their soup record thanks to what might be one of the rare occasions where ‘too many cooks in the kitchen’ does not spoil the feast, but enriches it.

Smashing their soup records has become a consistent victory for Chefs with Compassion with each Nelson Mandela Day proving a new change to show the whole world how much is possible when enough people are willing to unite behind a single cause.

They always set their goal as 67,000 litres in honour of Madiba. But for the past few years, they have climbed from 90,679 litres to 104,460 litres achieved last year and a whopping 106,895 litres prepared this year.

This means that 427,580 cups of soup were served for the 2024 Chefs with Compassion cook-up. Considering that this is the size of a small city, the achievement is nothing short of remarkable.

“This campaign symbolises the power of unity and compassion within South Africa’s culinary community. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of thousands facing hunger.” Chefs with Compassion shared.
