The rhythmic squeak of trainers on the tarmac, the swiftness of passes, and the intensity of defensive manoeuvres filled the air at a recent netball clinic in Soweto.
Soweto, South Africa (27 August 2024) – In a heartwarming and exhilarating initiative, Netball South Africa and the Zodwa Khoza Foundation joined forces to host a netball development clinic at the Fiat Sports Center in Meadowlands in Soweto.
Over 120 enthusiastic young athletes had the opportunity to hone their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches.
NSA and the Zodwa Khoza Foundation are committed to developing the sport and empowering youth through netball. The clinic aimed to nurture young talent, promote healthy lifestyles, and foster a love for netball.
The Zodwa Khoza Foundation, dedicated to supporting families affected by HIV/AIDS, played a crucial role in making this event possible.
Over and above the incredible work they do, the foundation provides ongoing support to child and elderly-headed households in and around Diepkloof, Soweto.
In the Diepkloof area and its neighbouring regions, many families grapple with extreme poverty. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, the clinic offered these young people a much-needed break from their challenging circumstances – allowing them to just be kids and realise other opportunities, such as being able to thrive in sports.
With the generous support of Discovery and SPAR, the clinic was able to provide essential resources to the participants, ensuring a memorable and enriching experience.
