Adorned with 26,400 Swarovski stones, a baobab headpiece and intricate details symbolising prosperity and heritage, Lebohang Raputsoe’s gown at the Miss Supranational event was a powerful showcase of South Africa’s rich indigenous art and a shining example of what can be achieved with hard work and a compelling story.

Krynica-Zdrój, Poland (01 July 2025) – In a stunning showcase of South African creativity, our very own Lebohang Raputsoe turned heads in a dazzling, African-inspired ensemble at the 2025 Miss Supranational pageant in Poland last week.

Donned in a regal fusion of cultural pride, ancestral wisdom, and queenly strength, the Miss South Africa top 12 finalists proudly represented the country and impressively captivated both audiences and judges alike at the international event’s national costume preliminary.

The ensemble, titled “The Majestic Baobab – Tree of Life,” was a stunning creation by Hollywood Costumes. It featured a striking silhouette topped with an intricate headpiece resembling a baobab tree, symbolising African royalty. The bodice and flowing skirt were adorned with golden embellishments that represented prosperity and heritage. Draped over her arms was a vibrant blue and white cape, decorated with motifs inspired by traditional Basotho culture, honouring South Africa’s rich tapestry of indigenous art.

According to Miss Universe South Africa, the dress boasted 26,400 Swarovski stones and showed the immaculate work and artistry of women and creatives in our country.

Lebohang shared that she was excited to represent the nation, share her story and showcase the incredible dedication, hard work, and talent that went into creating the masterpiece!

The beauty queen has been in Poland since the beginning of June, and as of last week, managed to make it to the Top 24 of the pageant. Reflecting on the unique experience, she poured her heart out in thanks to her country and community of supporters.

“Thank you for your support. Words cannot express how grateful I am, my name says it all, Thank you. I am extremely fulfilled. I poured my heart into the experience and went through the journey as openly as possible. With three weeks to prepare and even less given my circumstances, I am proud to once again have shown that we are all WILDLY CAPABLE. I look at myself with pride knowing that I was able to carry the South African flag high with so much love, respect and conviction.”

For representing our nation with such beauty and grace, we celebrate and congratulate you, Lebohang!
