14-year-old South African powerhouse Simphiwe Ndhlovu lit up the stage in Moscow at the recently held Our Generation 2025 song competition, dazzling judges and proudly representing Mzansi.

Moscow, Russia (24 October 2025) – It is always inspiring to witness the surge of South African youth boldly stepping onto the global stage, their ambition and talent shining brightly among the world’s best.

With a commanding stage presence that easily captivates, 14-year-old Simphiwe Ndhlovu shone at the Our Generation 2025 International Televised Children’s Song Competition held in Moscow, Russia, earlier this month.

With an audition tape that easily stood out, Simphiwe was selected as the South African participant by the South African BRICS Youth Association (SABYA) to represent our nation and perform an original song.

“The competition was about different countries competing with original songs from their country,” Simphiwe tells us.

“The experience was phenomenal! Russia is such a beautiful country I would recommend for anyone to visit. Getting to meet and make new friends was an absolute pleasure and I had tons of fun. There was pressure but for me it was more about the sportsmanship, not so much the winning because already representing South Africa on its own is a win.”

Donned in a cultural attire that paid homage to his roots, Simphiwe performed a self-composed song titled Kusekhaya La – a musical showcase celebrating the diverse culture and beautiful landscapes of South Africa, from the Drakensburg mountains to the busy townships and cities.

His mom, Hlengiwe, also expressed her immense pride in her young performer, saying:

“This was the first time South Africa entered this competition, Our Generation Song Contest. I must say I’m very proud of my son Simphiwe; he did it.

“Now, as the family, we can officially say, we have a member who went to a global stage, to represent South Africa.”

Simphiwe is a student at the National School of the Arts and takes pride in being a musical theatre performer with a passion for singing, dancing, and acting.

He hopes to study Dramatic Arts and dreams of one day becoming an Oscar-award-winning actor and Grammy-award-winning singer.

With undeniable talent that shines bright and relentless determination, it’s safe to say that this young performer is destined to thrive and excel, proving that their dreams know no borders!
