The pantry shelves of Oasis Haven children’s home were empty when People4Purpose put out the call for help. A flood of love filled them up again.

Johannesburg, South Africa (05 November 2026) – In late October, local NPO People4Purpose received an appeal to help a children’s home with emergency food relief.

The home was in crisis after its pantry shelves had run completely dry.

With hungry bellies waiting to be fed, the charity organisation put a call out to its supporters on social media.

With the help of public support, People4Purpose provides necessities like food, clothing, medical supplies, educational supplies and access to housing and rent in Randburg and surrounds, stepping in to assist where help is needed.

When it put out its appeal to help Oasis Haven and the 20 children in its care, the love poured in.

“Sometimes community just shows up in the most beautiful way.” the NPO wrote on Facebook. “When People4Purpose NPO were asked to help with emergency food relief for Oasis Haven, we had no idea what was about to unfold.”

The organisation says the support was overwhelming.

“Groceries, deliveries, drop-offs and so much love pouring in.”

Together with LindenCPF, the organisation was able to restock the shelves at the children’s home!

“Oasis Haven in Robinhills gives these children a safe and loving home, and thanks to YOU, they are cared for. We are so deeply thankful to everyone who gave.”

The home, which provides family-centered residential care and protection for vulnerable, orphaned, abandoned, and abused children in Robinhills, shared its thanks for the community who stepped in at its hour of need.

“Your kindness goes far beyond filling shelves – it brings security, dignity and the reassurance that our children are not forgotten.” it wrote. “Every bit helps, big or small, and every act of kindness makes a difference. We are deeply grateful to have you as part of our village. Together, we make a difference, one child at a time.”
