After Phinius Sebatsane opened up about wishing his late mother could witness his wedding, his thoughtful wife-to-be, Victoria, devised a special plan to comfort him and honour his mother’s memory.

Cape Town, South Africa (27 November 2025) – Already overwhelmed with a whirlwind of emotions on the morning of his wedding day, Phinius Sebatsane was left speechless when he opened a gift from his soon-to-be wife at the time, Victoria.

Capturing the moment in a beautiful video shared online, Phinius opened the gift box, which held the portrait of someone he always imagined would be part of one of the biggest days of his life, his beloved late mother.

“She got me…,” Phinius wrote on the post.

He went on to share that a day before the wedding, he had told his wife how he wished his mother could be present, or at least have a photo of her, at their matrimonial ceremony.

“I didn’t know she had already planned something special. Before the wedding, she handed me a gift, the only photo of my mom, taken from her old ID book,” he said.

In that moment, Phinius felt considered, seen, known and loved in a way that words can’t fully capture.

“Consideration really is the highest form of love, and she proved that in the most beautiful way on our wedding day,” he said, further thanking his wife for a gift that meant the world to him.

Now that’s just beautiful! The post cleansed timelines and has resonated with many South Africans who have described Victoria’s gesture as precious and one that has easily warmed their hearts.

One person commented:

“This is so beautiful and powerful — and I am SO happy for you, just delighted!!! Such a stunning union and partnership and love.”

A stunning union indeed, and one that’s reminded us how small acts of taking those we love into consideration can touch their hearts in the biggest ways!
