After a packed few weeks of entertaining cricket, the SA20 season wraps up with the top teams battling it out with hopes of reaching the final stage.

South Africa (19 January 2026) – If you’ve been following the Betway SA20 this summer, you know it’s been a festival. Even though some matches were washed out due to heavy rains, there was still plenty to celebrate. Big sixes, close finishes and plenty of drama as six franchises have battled it out for a place in finals week. After a jam‑packed month of action, all roads now lead to Newlands in Cape Town, where the winners of this fourth SA20 season will be crowned after the playoffs and final this weekend. The appetite for the final is evident as organisers have already confirmed that Season 4 is sold out!

At the top of the leader board all season long have been the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, who have continued to remind everyone why they’re one of the most successful sides in this competition’s history. They are locked in a Qualifier 1 place and are favourites to go deep in the finals. This is the same team that lifted the trophy in the first two seasons of this competition. Sunrisers continued this form by beating MI Cape Town (defending champions). This indicates just how unpredictable this season is.

Behind Sunrisers, there’s a tight fight shaping up for the remaining playoff spots. Pretoria Capitals and Paarl Royals have locked in strong positions near the top of the table thanks to a string of impressive performances, while the Joburg Super Kings are also in the mix heading into the last stretch of league matches.

With the final week underway, the points table is tight, and a few key results could dramatically shift who makes it to the semi-finals. Teams still have a chance to secure their spot, and with net run rates in play, every run and wicket could make a difference. Fans should keep a close watch as the last matches before the knockouts will decide which four sides advance and who will face off in the final.

It’s been a month of jam-packed cricket, vibrant fan moments, and memorable performances. The SA20 hasn’t just been about stats and scores, it’s also been about  the excitement and South Africans enjoying cricket like never before. As the final week unfolds, Newlands will become the centre of attention and the crowd will witness the thrilling conclusion of yet another unforgettable SA20 season.
