Rowing Cape2Rio

Braam and Wayne have nearly completed their goal of rowing the Cape2Rio which is 7245km. They’ve been at sea for nearly 3 months and are 1 hour away from done.

 

After months of continuous rowing Braam Malherbe and Wayne Robertson are nearly finished. They set out on a small boat in the hopes that their trip would raise awareness for the planet.

They will make this formidable transatlantic crossing in a 6,8 metre long and 1,8 metre wide vessel, rowing in 2 hour shifts 24/7 over an estimated 3 months.

We covered the story about a month ago when they had 1824km’s left to go. They are estimated to be arriving in Rio between 14:00 pm and 15:00 pm (09:00 – 10:00 am Brazil Time), today the 9th of May 2017. Their arrival will be live streamed on their Facebook page.

Wayne’s wife has been very proud of his desire to promote a better future of the planet.

In total Braam and Wayne have rowed over 8000 km in 3 months and made 2 Million strokes. South Africa is exceptionally proud of them! People have been leaving congratulatory messages on their page.
