Former player returns to the club where she began her career, taking over the senior team after a steady rise through coaching ranks.
Motherwell, South Africa (22 April 2026)- For Khanya “Miss K” Kondile, this moment isn’t just about stepping into a new role; it’s about a full-circle moment coming home.
The Motherwell Jaguars have officially appointed Kondile as their new head coach, marking a historic first for the club. She becomes the first woman to lead the team, a milestone that speaks not only to her journey but to the evolution of the game itself. What makes it even more special is where it all began.
Kondile first pulled on the Jaguars jersey back in 2009 at just 14 years old. Within a few years, she was already making waves by earning selection to the Eastern Province U16 side in 2011, before stepping up to senior provincial rugby in 2012.
Her rise didn’t stop there. In 2013, she represented South Africa as part of the Junior Springboks squad on tour in London, a moment that confirmed her place among the country’s top young talents.
But it’s what came after her playing career that has shaped this next chapter.
After retiring from playing in 2025, Kondile shifted her focus fully to coaching. From guiding the EP U18 side to Craven Week success to developing talent at the U20 and senior women’s level, her work has consistently been about building players and strengthening teams.
Her coaching journey has been marked by steady growth. She earned her Level 2 certification, stepping into provincial roles and helping lift teams up the rankings while opening doors for players at higher levels. Today, she is also part of the South African Rugby Union Level 3 Elite Coaching Group.
Long before this appointment, leadership was already part of her story. At just 22, she took on the role of first team manager at Motherwell, leading the side to victory at a major Easter tournament.
“This appointment is not by chance. It is the result of years of preparation, dedication, and belief from the club that raised her.”
Now, she returns to the same club where it all began. This time on the sidelines, shaping the next generation instead of running out onto the field.
