South Africa’s women continue their strong T20 form with a second straight win, powered by a dominant opening partnership and a confident all-round performance.
Durban, South Africa (20 April 2026) – South Africa women’s national cricket team is making it count!
South Africa kept their winning run going with another confident performance against India women’s national cricket team, wrapping up an eight-wicket victory to take a 2-0 lead in the T20 series.
Chasing 148, the Proteas didn’t waste time settling in. Openers Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus came out with clear intent, setting the tone early with an aggressive power play that put India immediately on the back foot. By the end of the first six overs, the pair had already piled on 66 runs without loss, turning the chase into a statement.
From there, it was all about control. The duo continued to find gaps, rotate strike and punish anything loose, taking the score comfortably past the halfway mark without much trouble. Wolvaardt brought up another half-century in the series, underlining her consistency at the top, while Luus matched her energy with a composed and confident knock of her own.
Although India eventually broke the opening stand, the damage had long been done. South Africa cruised home with overs to spare, closing out the match with authority.
Tumi Sekhukhune and Chloe Tryon were key in that shift, striking at crucial moments to slow things down and trigger a late collapse.
With two wins from two, the Proteas Women are building rhythm and a clear identity heading into the rest of the fixtures.
Next up, the action moves to The Wanderers Stadium, where South Africa will look to keep the momentum going and push for a series-clinching performance.
