After losing out on a larger property they had been approved for, a miracle new property has opened up for Bella’s Blessings. But they need help to urgently raise the deposit to secure this safe haven for their babies!

Johannesburg, South Africa (04 June 2026) – Founded in 2020, in loving memory of Chloe, affectionately known as Bella, Bella’s Blessings began as a way to honour her memory. The charity quickly grew into a place of safety and hope for vulnerable babies and young children who have experienced abandonment, neglect, abuse, trauma, medical challenges, and other circumstances that place them at risk.

“Many of the children in our care have special needs, developmental delays, or complex medical conditions requiring ongoing support, therapy, specialist appointments, and advocacy,” Founder of the Johannesburg NPO, Lauren Woolard, tells us.

Unlike many organisations, Bella’s Blessings receives absolutely no government funding. Every meal served, every nappy changed, every medical appointment attended, every school fee paid, and every safe night of sleep provided is funded entirely through the generosity of donors, businesses, and members of the public.

“For some time now, we have been searching for a larger and more suitable property that will allow us to continue caring for the children currently in our care while also creating opportunities for future growth,” Lauren explains.

Last week, she experienced what can only be described as an emotional rollercoaster.

After months of searching for new premises, Lauren was informed that the charity’s application for a property had been approved. However, before their application could be finalised, another applicant was able to pay their deposit and sign first, resulting in Bella’s Blessings sadly losing the property.

“It was heartbreaking, particularly knowing how desperately we need a space that better meets the needs of our children.”

However, another opportunity has now presented itself.

“We have viewed a property that is everything we could have hoped for and more,” Lauren shares.

This potential new home offers the space, accessibility, and potential that Bella’s Blessings desperately needs. Lauren says it would provide a safer and more suitable environment for the children currently in their care while also allowing them to expand their impact in the future and assist even more vulnerable children.

“One of the things that touched me most was how perfectly suited part of the home is for one of our children with special needs, Izzy. The layout would allow her to remain close to her caregivers while also having a dedicated space designed around her needs. For families and organisations caring for children with complex needs, opportunities like this are incredibly rare.”

The application has been submitted, and Bella’s team is currently awaiting approval.

“The challenge we face is that if we are approved, we need to be ready immediately. We are urgently trying to raise R65,000 to cover the deposit required to secure the property.”

For this children’s charity, this isn’t simply about securing a house. It is about creating a home where vulnerable babies will be safe, where children with special needs will have the space they need to thrive, where milestones will be celebrated, where trauma can begin to heal, and where futures can be rebuilt.

Lauren has launched an urgent fundraising campaign and is asking the public to consider donating as little as R50.

“We believe that if enough people contribute a small amount, together we can secure this home and create a brighter future for the children who rely on Bella’s Blessings.”
