The teachers and learners of Brakpan Primary School understood the assignment in the most creative, heartwarming show of support for Bafana Bafana!
Brakpan, South Africa (12 June 2026) – The world at large has been abuzz with excitement leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With South Africa opening the event with the first match, Mzansi showed up loud and proud to support Bafana Bafana.
Whether at a local shopping centre, school, or workplace, you were sure to spot a green and gold jersey worn with pride in just about every corner yesterday, ahead of the highly anticipated game against Mexico.
At Brakpan Primary School, the display of camaraderie was a showcase of creativity at its very best!
Long before game day, learners in each grade were assigned one colour from the South African flag to wear, creating a human display of the national flag alongside a black and white soccer ball to be photographed on the school grounds.
The result? An absolutely stunning, picture-perfect display of the flag – all colours bright and beautifully in place, donned by kids who understood the assignment! The soccer ball display was just as impressive, portrayed with close attention to detail.
“We want to thank all our students who participated by dressing accordingly in their grade colours. We couldn’t have done it without you,” Brakpan Primary School said, affirming its support for the national soccer team.
The pictures were easily what you’d describe as worth a thousand words, leaving South Africans completely in awe!
They were shared in a Facebook post by the school, quickly garnering thousands of likes and comments celebrating the school’s well-thought-out embrace of the World Cup.
A user, Nomsa Musa, was moved by teachers encouraging learners to embrace the creative side of education:
“Absolutely amazing, wow, what a great talent. This is real creativity. Good, keep it up, teachers. This is what we expect from you: teaching them that not everything from the book, your mind and hands can do wonders. Thanks, please don’t forget to frame this picture for the next generation. Where’s the Guinness book for this picture, please?”
“Charmee Kakhumalo also celebrated the execution of the flag:
“Well done Brakpan Primary School. You nailed it.”
Dorothy Moeketse also congratulated the school effort:
“Well done, Brakpan Primary. Creativity at its best.”
It is just so special to see how these children were able to channel their creativity into such a magnificent display of support. No matter how challenging the global soccer stage may be right now, our boys on the field carry the fierce love of a nation standing proudly behind them.
