South Africa’s Olympic skateboarder headlines this weekend’s O’Neill Ballito Pro Skate Jam as the country’s best riders battle it out for top honours.

Durban, South Africa (09 July 2026) – South Africa’s top skateboarders are set to take over the iconic Ballito Bowl this Saturday, with Olympian Brandon Valjalo returning to headline one of the most anticipated events on the Ballito Pro festival calendar.

The O’Neill Ballito Pro Skate Jam, taking place on 11 July, promises an afternoon of high-flying tricks, fierce competition and plenty of entertainment as some of the country’s best skaters battle it out for a share of R30 000 in prize money.

Fresh off a major refurbishment, the Ballito Bowl is once again ready to host one of South Africa’s premier skateboarding competitions. Known for its steep transitions and fast lines, the venue has long been regarded as one of the country’s most respected skate parks.

One of the biggest names to watch is Brandon Valjalo, South Africa’s first Olympic skateboarder. Although he’s built an international reputation as a street skater, fans can expect his trademark style and technical skill to make for another memorable performance in the bowl.

For organiser Markus Müseler of OSP Events Co, the Skate Jam is about much more than the competition.

“Every year the bowl fills up with skaters from all over the country, and it feels more like a reunion than a contest,” he said. “Everyone pushes each other, it’s all about good times while the level of skating just keeps progressing.”

The Skate Jam has become one of the standout attractions of the Ballito Pro , bringing together skateboarders, surfers, families and spectators in a celebration of action sports and youth culture just a short walk from the beach.

Now there’s a refreshed venue, some of the country’s finest skateboarders and one of South Africa’s biggest sporting festivals providing the backdrop, all signs point to another action-packed edition of the O’Neill Ballito Pro Skate Jam.
