Tyla’s passport must be filling up as quickly as her trophy cabinet. Her latest stop saw her sharing the stage with Shakira in Brooklyn, adding yet another remarkable chapter to a career that’s capturing hearts across the globe.
Global (03 August 2026) – Shakira made “Hips Don’t Lie” a global anthem. Two decades later, Tyla stepped onto the stage and showed us all that she speaks the language just as fluently.
Shakira’s “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” World Tour has already become one of her biggest tours to date, and her first night at the Barclays Centre was packed with surprises. Tyla was the first special guest of the evening, joining the Colombian icon for an energetic performance of Hips Don’t Lie, before later appearances from Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy.
The performance wasn’t a quick cameo either. Tyla exchanged vocals with Shakira, matched her choreography step for step and strutted down the catwalk with the confidence of someone who looked completely at home on one of the world’s biggest stages. Dressed in a striking turquoise fringed outfit, she commanded the moment, and the audience loved every second of it.
After the concert, Shakira shared a heartfelt message with Tyla, writing: “Tyla, you are amazing! Thank you for joining me on stage last night! Iconic! Let’s do it again!”

The performance came at the perfect moment for Tyla. Just four days later, she released her highly anticipated second album, A*POP, before announcing a 34-date world tour that will take her across Europe, North America and Africa. The Brooklyn appearance felt less like a promotional stop and more like another chapter in a story that keeps getting bigger.

*Tyla has updated her A*POP World Tour schedule, with the previously announced Lagos date no longer on the official itinerary. Instead, the tour will end right here at home, with performances in Cape Town on the 4th of January 2027 and Johannesburg on the 9th of January 2027. It’s a fitting way for one of South Africa’s biggest global stars to bring her first headline world tour full circle.
