SAID’s education outreach programme teaches children empathy, responsible animal care and kindness in an effort to create lasting change.

Johannesburg, South Africa (14 September 2026) – Education could play a major role in creating a future where animals and people are treated with greater care and compassion.

That is the thinking behind SAID’s education outreach programme, which works with children to teach empathy, kindness and responsible animal care from a young age.

Teaching children how to treat animals responsibly can help shape the way they interact with the people and communities around them too.

Through its outreach days, SAID aims to reach more schools and give young people the knowledge and understanding they need to become responsible animal owners and compassionate members of their communities.

While rescuing and caring for animals in need is important, education offers a way to address animal welfare at its roots by helping shape attitudes before harmful habits take hold.

SAID is calling on the public to support its education outreach days so that the programme can reach more schools, more children and, ultimately, more animals.

To help, you can support SAID’s education outreach programme and help build a kinder future for animals and people by donating through their fundraising link here.
