Thanks to four incredible cyclists who rode all the way from Johannesburg to Cape Town, life-changing developmental therapy is now within reach for several precious young souls.
Cape Town, South Africa (02 November 2026) – In honour of the children and families who inspire them every day, four dedicated riders hit the road on 22 October, riding to make therapy and essential equipment accessible for families who need it most.
Cycling from Johannesburg to Cape Town, Bill, Chantelle, Nicky and Guy set off on an 11-day unsupported journey, covering approximately 1,600 kilometres on their bikes.
“We were meant to be five, hence the Team name Big 5, but sadly, Pam was injured in a team crash just ten days before our departure,” shares Nicky Lebos, who led the heartfelt mission and fundraising campaign.
Their ride came to a strong finish yesterday, 1 November, and was dedicated to the incredible children with special needs and their families whom Nicky has the privilege of working with through the Children’s Therapy Centre.

Situated in Petervale, Bryanston, Johannesburg, the Children’s Therapy Centre provides multidisciplinary paediatric medical and therapeutic services to help infants, children and adolescents reach their developmental, physical and emotional milestones.
“I am continually humbled by their courage, their determination and their ability to keep going, even when life presents challenges that many of us can scarcely imagine. Their journeys are not always easy. There are difficult days, setbacks, exhaustion, uncertainty and battles that often go unseen by the outside world. Yet, day after day, these children show up, keep trying, celebrate smallest victories and find ways to move forward. Their families do the same, offering love, patience, support and strength, often when they themselves are running on empty,” says Nicky.
From spending 14 hours on the road on some days and persevering through the stinging heat to breathtaking encounters with wildlife and lush landscapes, Nicky and her team pushed past physical pain and exhaustion to complete an epic journey – and one they wouldn’t trade for the world.
By Sunday evening, they had arrived safely in Blouberg, sporting the biggest smiles and a fully funded campaign. They had exceeded their R40,000 target, raising R44,733!
Thanks to their efforts and a community that generously believed in their mission, many children will be able to access the therapy they need to support their growth, development and daily challenges. A huge well done to these incredible legends!
