South African conservationist Shandor Larenty has earned international acclaim for using his social media following and influence to educate the public on wildlife species and conservation.
Gauteng, South Africa (21 September 2026) – Shandor Larenty is a South African wildlife conservationist and animal handler whose dedication to animal care and protection is evident in everything he does.
Coming from a family with a rich background in animal handling, he has built a massive global social media following by sharing his encounters with animals, most notably a decade-long bond with a lion named George.
As Head of Animal Care at the prominent Lion & Safari Park, Shandor oversees daily animal welfare, dietary plans, health checkups, enrichment programmes, and enclosure design across wildlife properties.
He uses his vast social media reach on TikTok and Instagram to educate the public on misunderstood species like hyenas, habitat preservation, and the realities of wildlife conservation.

Recently, Shandor excitedly shared the news of being shortlisted for the Humanitarian Impact Award at the Digital Creator Awards Global Edition, an initiative that celebrates creators who inspire, entertain, and move millions through the power of digital content.
