After a difficult start, one little boy is receiving the warmth, care and affection every child deserves, thanks to the people who stepped in to protect him.

Durban, South Africa (19 October 2026) – The Baby Home in Durban has opened its doors to a little boy who needed a safe place to stay after being collected from town with the assistance of the police.

In a heartfelt account shared by the organisation, staff described how the little one arrived underweight and wearing only a nappy, having already experienced circumstances no child should have to endure.

But the team was determined to make sure his first hours in their care were filled with comfort, kindness and love.

After a warm bath, a full tummy, clean clothes and plenty of cuddles, the little boy was soon happily playing in the lounge, enjoying the simple things that every child should be able to take for granted.

The Baby House acknowledged that his stay may be brief, but promised to make the time he spends with them count. While he is in their care, the team will do everything possible to ensure he feels safe, loved and protected.

The organisation also extended its gratitude to the people who stepped in to help, recognising the difference that can be made when people choose to act rather than look away.

By the end of the day, the little boy was tucked into a warm bed, with a full tummy and people around him who already cared deeply about his wellbeing.

Although the team cannot change what happened before he arrived, it can give him a different experience from this moment forward.

For now, that means warmth, reassurance, gentle care and the chance to simply be a little boy.

And today, as The Baby House reminds us, he is safe and loved.
