The Grade 7 learner’s academic achievements and sporting talent have inspired a group of community members to help him take the next step in his education at Pretoria Boys High School.
Johannesburg, South Africa (28 October 2026) – A connection made through club soccer has helped create an exciting opportunity for Shaun Zozi, a young South African who is working hard to build a future through education, leadership and sport.
Shaun is currently a Grade 7 learner at Bordeaux Primary School. Raised by his aunt in an underprivileged environment, he has continued to pursue his ambitions and excel in several areas of school life. He is his school’s head boy, a straight-A student and a provincial soccer player, with a strong reputation as an athlete and a young man of good character.
His story came to the attention of members of the ProForm Wellness community earlier this year through a simple connection. Shaun plays club soccer alongside the son of one of the facility’s members.
As people learnt more about Shaun’s circumstances and achievements, they saw an opportunity to support a young person whose determination was already evident. Members came together to help him access an educational opportunity that could give him room to grow both academically and on the sports field.
Through their collective generosity, they have made it possible for Shaun to attend Pretoria Boys High School and board at Solomon House.
The move is intended to give him access to an environment where he can continue developing his academic abilities, pursue his sporting ambitions and build friendships that may last well beyond his school years.
This is an important next step for Shaun. His achievements to date show the commitment he brings to his studies, leadership responsibilities and football. With the support of people who believe in his potential, he will have an opportunity to explore what more he can accomplish.
The community effort also highlights how an everyday connection can lead to something meaningful. What began with two boys playing soccer together grew into an opportunity for adults around them to step in and help Shaun prepare for the next stage of his education.
The fitness and wellness community in Bryanston said the support reflects the willingness of its members to look beyond their own interests and invest in someone else’s future.
The focus now is on Shaun as he prepares for this new chapter. His story is a reminder of the potential that exists among young people across South Africa, including those whose circumstances may make access to opportunities more difficult.
