Multi-award-winning filmmakers Susan Scott and Bonné de Bod bring us a look into the beautiful natural world of the most epic wildernesses on Earth!
South Africa (04 September 2020) – The fantastic team behind the eye-opening documentary ‘STROOP‘ are back with something a little lighter and more enchanting. Susan Scott and Bonné de Bod have been working on another hard-hitting documentary but to give their creative spirits a break, they did something different.
Enter, ‘KINGDOMS of Fire, Ice and Fairytales’ an adventure quest feature focusing on three of the most epic wildernesses on Earth!
“The two women immerse themselves in filming environments far different from their work of exposing crimes against the planet. This time they’re on a different journey to search for spaces that inspire awe and wonder, places that are timeless and where one can feel the beginning of creation –– what life was like a million years ago. Television presenter Bonné de Bod and film director Susan Scott reveal the challenge of filming in these pristine spots –– temperatures bordering minus 20º in the Arctic Circle to the scalding thermal vents of Yellowstone’s super-volcano.
And what will their quest find? That the planet never disappoints. And while their beautiful imagery moves us with untouched, incredible nature, the filmmakers seek out legendary stories on overcoming fear and rejuvenating souls. Reminding us that we are all still connected to where we come from. ‘Kingdoms’ motivates us to move into the next part of our lives with healing and positive expectation.”
This hour-long feature is very different from their previous works but it brings a peace and calm needed to break heartache of facing crimes against the plant. Where we were shocked into anger before, this new feature helps us see the beauty of our planet and leaves one in awe of it all.
Susan and Bonné have been blessed to sell the African rights for ‘Kingdoms of Fire, Ice & Fairytales’ to MultiChoice. The one hour special is set to broadcast on M-Net later in the year and the Afrikaans version of the film, ‘Koninkryke van Vuur, Ys en Feëverhale’ will be broadcast on kykNET. Both language versions will also be digitally available on Showmax. The filmmakers are now in talks with a number of international distributors for the overseas market.
Giving the international success of ‘STROOP’, which has won over 25 awards to date, we have faith these proudly South African filmmakers will be making headlines once more!
