SPAR is stepping up to make it easier than ever to get new school shoes on South Africa’s littlest feet… and communities are using the campaign to pay it forward to kids in need!
South Africa (29 October 2020) – A new pair of school shoes instils a sense of pride and inspires confidence which can uplift a child in such a way that they change their future and create a better world… and SPAR stores across the country are making it easier than ever for you to give this gift of hope to vulnerable South African children.
“My SPAR” has launched a campaign to help little South Africans get new school shoes for less than a loaf of bread and milk! For every R500 spent, shoppers can buy a pair of kiddies school shoes for just R40, but communities are taking this one step further… and using the cheap price to donate the shoes to kids in need!
Within hours of the campaign going live, South Africans took to social media to promote how they would be sharing the joy of new school shoes, to those in need this festive season.
“Wow. Isn’t this an amazing initiative from spar? Spend R500 on groceries and you can get children’s school shoes for R40. What!! I will definitely be buying a few pairs to donate. For R40… Honestly, that’s like milk and a loaf of bread. I only saw this today. Well done spar!” – Jill Scott
“Hey friends remember when you do your grocery shopping that you can participate in this amazing campaign. R40 for a pair of school shoes when you spend R500 or more. Give it to someone in need and make a tiny difference. Be kind. Paying it forward. Tiny the mighty.” – Natalie Beveridge
“Peeps, SPAR is running a super campaign where if you spend R500 or more (and you are a rewards card holder), you can buy a pair of Bata school shoes for just R40. Now, for me, I don’t need to buy Frog school shoes but will be gifting a pair to a kid in need. R40 is nothing for the average person but a new pair of school shoes, for a kid in need would be priceless. Please consider doing the same if you can.” – Taren Welthagen
New shoes bring hope!
To many, a pair of new school shoes is just an addition to the standard school uniform. Nothing more than an annual update but to some, it is a goal, something to take pride in and care for.
Millions of children in South Africa live below the poverty line. Priorities such as food take a precedent over new school shoes, so many bright young children never get the joy of putting on a brand new pair of school shoes. Many wear shoes that are too small or too big, or shoes that are broken and worn out.
Giving a child in need, a new pair of school shoes instils them with pride and hope. That child will take their new pair of shoes home, place the box safely on their shelf and polish those shoes until they shine. The next morning, the child will wake up and dress for school, tie the laces up and set off on their walk.
This new pair of shoes will protect their feet from the glass scattered along the route, keep them warm and dry, and support their feet along the way.
A new pair of shoes boosts the confidence of a child and gives them the drive to succeed. It is because of this, that SPAR is making it easier than ever to donate school shoes to children in need.
