Students from Carleton Jones High School raised much needed funds for the CANSA association, allowing the initiative to attend to maintenance and support.

The students at Carleton Jones High School in Gauteng have kicked the year off by donating R10 000 to the “CANSA Tough Living with Cancer” institution.

CANSA TLC is a programme for children and teens diagnosed with cancer or affected by cancer. Support is provided to the family as a whole in both scenarios.

The TLC project aims to equip parents and children with the right knowledge, support and stimulation, so that children and their families can be motivated and empowered to fight cancer.

The CANSA TLC Nicus Lodge at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital in Pretoria and the CANSA TLC Paediatric Oncology Ward at the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital in Polokwane, both provide parents with the opportunity to board with their children, while their children are undergoing treatment for cancer & TLC Support Rooms provide counselling to families in several provinces.

Parents can prepare their own meals in the fully equipped kitchen and donated food is provided for them to prepare. CANSA TLC supplies linen, toiletries and clothes where necessary and a laundry service is available.

Other services and initiatives include: counselling; prosthetic support; training re cancer signs & symptoms in children; dietary information and education; pain and symptom control and ‘end of life’ care.

Thank you so much Carleton Jones High for deciding that CANSA TLC Nicus Lodge qualified for your support.
