UoPeople is an accredited American online university and it will be launching in Johannesburg tomorrow, it already has 400 SA students and is tuition-free.
UoPeople was founded in 2009 by Shai Reshef. He believes that a university education doesn’t have to be a debt sentence. The tuiton-free university allows people to have access to tertiary education no matter their walk of life.
“Our mission is to ensure that no student will be denied the right to access higher education due to financial constraints. We provide the opportunity to receive an online degree completely tuition-free!”

It views higher education as a basic right, and believes that it can both transform the lives of individuals and be an important force for societal change.”
While the university is tuition-free they do charge a minimal processing fee. They require a non-refundable application fee and assessment fee per exam [not in one full payment but at the time of each exam] which can be covered by numerous grants and scholarships.
The university offers an Associate’s degree and a Bachelor’s degree in various fields. The university currently has three fields of study. They offer degree’s in Business Administration, Computer Science and Health Science.
