KFM in partnership with the Dis-Chem Foundation has donated R120 000 to a youth centre.
Salesian Life Choices is an organisation that uplifts young people in Cape Town. This incredible organisation assists them by equipping with the skills and guidance they need to become adults.
KFM Breakfast Show Host, Ryan O’Connor spoke to a beneficiary of the organisation, Simphiwe Silwana, on the show this morning.
Simphiwe grew up with his grandparents after an accident left his father unable to look after him. He was always a top student but failed Grade 10 at Belgravia High and decided to use this as motivation to change his circumstances.
He enrolled in Salesian Life Choices, became a peer educator and started the Leaders Quest programme which assists 100 learners with their matric studies on Saturday mornings.
Simphiwe finished school as head boy and one of the top 20 learners in his grade. He is currently studying law at UCT with the help of Salesian Life Choices. He is also on the board of the organisation, helping young people across Cape Town.
Ryan surprised Simphiwe on the show this morning with news of the donation.
The Dis-Chem Foundation’s Candice Osry says: “Salesian Life Choices does such incredible work and we’re honoured to be associated with them. We’re so inspired by Simphiwe’s passion and drive and hope that the donation will help pave the way for more success stories like his.”
Simphiwe was overwhelmed with emotion and thanked both KFM and Dis-Chem.
