Fire Support

The Western Cape is extremely fire-prone. As winter looms, fire outbreaks occur which can often heavily impact communities. So, we’ve made a pocket guide on who to contact in case of a fire:

South Africa (14 May 2023) – Although the Western Cape’s Fire season typically runs through summer (December to April), winter often brings with it many unfortunate fire scares as people try to keep warm. The region is rife for fire outbreaks, so having helpful resources to contact for fire support goes a long way!

Despite some environments being more fire-prone than others, it never hurts to know who can be reached to lend a helping hand in our country, or who to help out in times of crisis when fire support is needed the most.

The Good Things Guy team has been working on these charity lists since the start of the pandemic in 2020. They were created as tools to help people find help or offer it to causes close to their hearts. Over the years, the demand for these lists has grown and today, we are excited to share our lists for 2023.

Our charity list was usually one long one but we have found, with the help of insightful readers, that one list is too much to work through. This year we are splitting the list into various categories.

If we have missed an organisation or charity for this list, please email and we will add it soonest; kindly supply the relevant links as well as which province they work in, the NPO/NGO/NPC registration details and a brief description of what the organisation does.

Please note, this is a working list, so keep sending through your charities, and we will keep adding them!

Putting Out Fires During and After the Fact

These organisations include all kinds of efforts toward fire-struck communities, offering fire support in different ways. We have simplified the search process for you by adding the following codes:

A– Animal Support D – Disaster Relief E – Essentials (can be called on to help organise clothes, food or donations etc for fire support) FF – Firefighters F – Food M – Medical Attention S – Shelter
