The Child Who Once Received Donations

Kindness can change the course of a life and inspire a beautiful cycle of giving back. Sipamandla’s journey with teachers who made her feel seen and supported throughout school is inspiring proof of that.

East London, South Africa (07 September 2026) – We often hear that it is better to give than to receive. And while that may be true, being on the receiving end of a need met can, at its best, set a life on a completely different course for the better.

Sipamandla Njoloza was once a child who received donations from people around her, not only filling gaps where there was lack, but also helping her reach places she once did not know how she would get to.

In a heartfelt social media post, Sipamandla opened up about how, while she was in high school, her late Life Sciences teacher showed her a kindness she will never forget.

“My Life Sciences teacher noticed that I did not have a skirt and went beyond being a teacher. She bought me a new school uniform.”

Then, in Grade 12, a year she describes as being filled with excitement, pressure and the hope of a better future, a teacher named Mrs Lewis became another person who showed her kindness when she needed it most.

“She contributed towards my farewell expenses, helping me experience a special moment that I might otherwise have struggled to afford.”

Mrs Lewis also offered Sipamandla a place to sleep after the event, as she had no one to fetch her.

Her support did not stop there. Mrs Lewis continued to stand by Sipamandla, making it possible for her to get into university.

“I’ll never forget this teacher, no matter what,” a grateful Sipamandla shared.

Sharing two photos of herself and Mrs Lewis, taken 10 years apart, Sipamandla made clear just how deeply that kindness shaped her life.

The post has since gained more than 4,000 likes on Facebook, along with many comments from people moved by her story and by the power of giving selflessly to those in need.

Today, Sipamandla is paying that kindness forward by giving back where there is need, especially to children who need school uniforms.

Her story is a reminder that one act of kindness can echo through the years, inspiring someone who was once helped to become a source of hope for others.
