There’s an unsung, trusty member of the Cluny Animal Trust’s team and her name is Daisy the Truck. Daisy might look slightly different to the humans in her crew, but she’s a vital beast who makes their animal welfare mission possible (and mobile):
Free State, South Africa (17 January 2025) — Not all heroes wear capes. In fact, not all heroes could, even if they wanted to. Such is the case for Daisy the truck, a rockstar on the road that helps make the Cluny Animal Trust’s animal welfare missions possible, and mobile at that.
With the good news that Daisy—a mobile operating theatre—has been serviced for 2025 and is in super condition comes the relief that the Cluny Animal Trust can kickstart its outreach work for the year!
Without Daisy, the team would have serious trouble getting to where they need to go. And with 147,333kms clocked, A big chunk of their epic efforts rest on Daisy’s wheels.
“Daisy is so important to us as she allows us to get to communities and animals that typically have no access to any sort of veterinary care at all, she really is so special to us all, but we all do,” the Cluny Animal Trust team gushed.
The Cluny Animal Trust provide a myriad of incredible services, from healthcare support to curating food parcels and even making beds for pets from recycled materials. And last year, the Trust worked toward over 1,000 sterilisations for animals in the Free State—a vital service, especially for low-income communities.
So, why the spotlight on a truck? Fundraising and donation farming are massive efforts for most charities. And sometimes, when matters to do with transport repairs or support are called for, they can fall on deaf ears. If you’re uninformed, you might not understand that maintenance of this kind is about a lot more than just polishing up a vehicle.
By spotlighting what these assets do for charities, we become more informed as to why the ‘urgent pleas’ for help that aren’t always directly related to an animal or another subject of interest are, in fact, so urgent.
Thankfully for the Cluny Trust, Sweepstakes raised a small fortune with this in mind; much of the lot raised will keep Miss Daisy the truck going strong!
