The Cluny Animal Trust is celebrating the end of a long road of sterilisation efforts, with over 1,000 “steris” set to wrap up 2024 for animals in the Free State!
Free State, South Africa (18 December 2024) — The Cluny Animal Trust is well set to surpass its 2024 sterilisation goal following a long but rewarding year of serving animals in the eastern stretch of the Free State.
Based in Fouriesburg, Cluny Animal Trust is a non-profit veterinary welfare organisation. Since 2011, the Trust has been ensuring that animals in impoverished parts of the province are not forgotten, giving them a paw-up in the ways that count the most.
From making beds from recycled materials to curating food parcels and providing healthcare support, the powerhouse team behind Cluny work tirelessly to get the job done wherever they are needed.
Amid their responsibilities to the animals of the Free State are sterilisation efforts. Especially for low-income communities that are already fraught with scores of stray animals, the way to a better living standard for these animals simply isn’t more stray animals without people to care for them.
Like many animal welfare organisations, Cluny had a goal for their 2024 steris. As of today, the team are thrilled to share that they are on track to reach their goal!
“We have completed exactly 991 steris,” the team share, adding that they have 23 steris booked for today and another 22 set to take place by the end of the week.
“All going well, we will end on exactly 1036 steris done for the year! So, today is indeed a day of celebration for the entire Cluny team and a huge win for the animal population of the eastern Free State.”
All those who wish to pay it forward for the Cluny Animal Trust can lend a paw by voting for the organisation’s chance to win €10,000 (over R 189,000) via the Edward Cooper Foundation.
Should their number of votes see them rank in the top two, the team would be able to win the money and start a dedicated educational programme. As part of the plan, they hope to impart imperative knowledge to young people and create more responsible and kind pet owners so that the animals of tomorrow will have a better chance at the love and care they deserve.
