KZN runners pushed their bodies to the limit, not just for personal glory, but to honour the unsung heroes safeguarding our wildlife.

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa (09 August 2024) – Eighteen determined runners recently embarked on a gruelling two-day, 100km Run for Rangers challenge through the heart of Zululand’s Babanango Game Reserve.

Alongside dedicated rangers, participants in the Run for Rangers event not only pushed their physical limits but also contributed to a vital cause.

By taking part, they raised both awareness and crucial funds to support the tireless work of these frontline conservation heroes.

“We are indebted to our field rangers who protect our most valuable wildlife, Africa would simply not be the same without their dedication and willingness to put themselves on the frontline to stop the ever-present poaching scourge,” said Babanango Game Reserve’s Operations and Conservation General Manager, Ryan Andraos in a post.

The work done by courageous rangers to safeguard the natural beauty of the wild often goes unseen much less praised, however, our wild spaces would not be what they are today without them.

The Run for Rangers event was a collaborative effort between Sport for Lives, Project Rhino, Uzwelo, Expand a Sign, Thirsti, Republic Lifestyle, Racefood, and Babanango Game Reserve.

The beneficiaries of the funds, Project Rhino will continue to help the courageous men and women who protect our precious natural resources.
